Easter Break Monday April 6th - Recommencing Monday 13th April

Family Break August 2026 (no lessons, recommence September 7th)

Our lessons offer with a free intro lesson (30 minutes) as a space for people to try out new styles, a potential new dance partnership, or just to get the hang of basics before moving into lessons proper. Course lessons are split into a slower styles (Swing default; Jive or Blues Rock if desired) and faster styles (Rock 'n' Roll default; Rockabilly, Lindy-Hop, or Aerials if desired).

As we teach by the couple students may always learn their desired dance style(s) to their skill level but group content will be taught to the default style (we may switch it up on occasion). Music will be selected to match a variety of styles at the respective speeds (slower/faster - the music will never be really fast!).

Lessons are typically split into 3 week blocks of beginner focused content (Get Started!) and 3 weeks of more advanced content (Next Steps). This provides a graduated progression for new dancers, with regular variety for experienced dancers. It also provides us with flexibility if required for other life demands.

> Free Intro Class

Our free lesson each week alternates between our core dance styles, covering basic footwork, frame, and holds. Generally, one week will focus on slower styles (swing / Blues Rock) and the next week on faster styles (Rock 'n' Roll / Rockabilly) but, as we teach by the couple, you are free to keep practicing your chosen style(s) from previous weeks and we'll jump in with reminders as time permits.

Our goal with this class is two-fold: 1) a low barrier of entry to new students or students contemplating a new style - practice the basics as long as you want until you're ready for a full class, 2) freeing up lesson time from covering style basics to explore other content, either with additional variety or in more depth. This lesson is intended to be low key, no pressure - just turn up with your dance partner and have some fun! However, if you would like to let us know you're coming, please book in on Eventbrite

Please go to the Lesson Times & Venues: Sunshine Coast page for further details on location, costs, etc. All lessons are non-rotational (dance partner required), allowing for couple specific feedback and dance development. Nathan and Sarah work between groups/couples to offer different styles using the same practice music for all dancers.

Please check out the dance styles page for more information.

Swing + Slower Styles: Mondays 6:15-7:15pm

Swing can dance from slow to fast music, offering a lot of variety, musicality, and expression. We start with slow, smooth swing as a perfect starting place for beginners. Slow swing is our default style for this class. Other styles suitable to the music in this class include: Jive, Blues Rock, Basic Dips

6-Step Rock 'n' Roll + Faster StylesMondays 7:15-8:15pm

Rock 'n' Roll offers a lot of variety in both content and styles. As a six beat dance style, we teach teach a six step action to help with timing and clear explanation of figures. This style is also an excellent base for learning aerials (lifts, throws, etc.).

Rock 'n; Roll is our default style for this class. However, If you like a solid, driving beat and the ability (with practice) to dance fast, we recommend Rockabilly as an alternative. Simple to start, but with an often unappreciated depth of variety and technique.
